Default Saddlebag holster

I had been wanting an easy way to transport a pistol to where it could be locked up/secured in a saddlebag. Simple revolver that could be loaded for self defense or snake shot since I live in the south.

Used cardboard to cut a template which I then transferred to a sheet of aluminum. Used the saddlebag hinge mount and saddlebag mount as ahchor points. Bought an Uncle Mikes holster that can be set for tension and that had been held onto a pancake holser setup by 2 screws. Drilled the 4 holes for the saddlebag hinge bracket, 1 large hole that fits the outside diameter of the rubber grommet, and then drilled and countersunk the 2 holes for the holster. No holes were drilled in the saddlebag.

The Brukus Saddlebag Secure kit made it easy to secure the saddlebags as well as the contenets in my bags and minimizes any blockage to the grip of the pistol. It is of good quality, inexpensive, and does the job well.

I like the setup and thought I would share the info with the forum. You would have to check on the legalities for individual states.

Hey, you're smarter than you look!!! Oh, I don't know what you look like. Great job and thanks for the idea. I have a Blackhawk holster with serpa lock that I never use and will see if I can get motivated to do this. Great post!!!!

Well done. Been trying to work out just how I wanted it to mount. You just helped figure out the last little details.

This is what the aluminum piece looked like after cutting, drilling and painting for all except the holster. Made the piece full length stopping just prior to the inside radius of the corners. Had to change out the 4 screws to longer length to accomodate the thickness of aluminum used. Used blue loctite on the screws.

Always knew those damned 'plastic' holsters were good for something!
Great idea. Thanks for the tip! I think I'll give it a try.
Have a 'well used' M-36 that has nothing to do at the moment.

Sorry, but a pistol does no good in the saddlebag. WEAR THE DAMN THING. You gonna ask the bad guy to to hold on till you get your piece out? The purpose of concealed carry is to handle unexpected problems. Expect the unexpected!

That's easy for you to say! Some of us live in states where 'carrying' isn't allowed...under any circumstances!! I don't think I need a 'piece' to protect me & mine while going down the road, it's the stopovers and overnights where 'surprising activities' happen, that I want it for. Don't want to be awaken in the middle of the night by the alarm and can only watch out the window as some 'lowlife' tries to take my ride!
