Living in the UK I had Commander II's fitted on my Dyna Super Glide and they were awesome, they held the road brilliantly, plus they were really long lasting, if I remember correctly I managed to get around 17K miles out of them.

The front tyre still had miles of life left in it, but I always like to swap my tyres together.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think the Commander II's are manufactured in France at the Michelin factory.

My new MCll rear is AWFUL AND FRIGHTENING on tar snakes. Period.

This makes me wonder. Not that I'm doubting you or anything but more wondering whats making the difference in how the MC2 performs for us. Could it just simply be riding style? I don't think so but I don't know what else it could be.

I just had a brand new set of Dunlop 407/408s put on my Ultra because I got a hell of a deal on a new set of take offs with Enforcer rims and have ridden about 300 miles. I can tell you without a doubt that I'll be putting MC2s back on as soon as it makes sense. With my old MC2s I didn't worry about tar snakes but with these Dunlops I can't even ride straight down the road without shimmying around if I hit one. The MC2s were far superior to them especially on tar snakes IMHO. And I got 20k out of them and still had a couple thousand left to go easily when I took them off.

It's weird...

I hit a series of tar snakes on my Limited a few weeks ago riding two up. Temps in the mid 90s. Tight right uphill corner at about 30 mph with a good lean on. The bike shifted a few inches to the side and regained traction, twice. I thought the MC2s handled it just fine. My wife on the other hand kind freaked out....

I've never had any tire that would grip a hot tar snake, there's nothing to grip.

Ditto. When I first had the MC2's, I was pulling onto a road and pulled off as something had to be wrong. Thought the rear tire was going flat as the *** end laterally moved so much. I then looked closer at the road and realized how much tar patching was on the road and also, it was a very warm day. But that is the nature of the beast. Have had them for a little over 5000 miles and they are still new looking. Keep the tire pressure correct and enjoy.

" I've never had any tire that would grip a hot tar snake, there's nothing to grip."

So true,iv'e been riding on the street since 1971 and have had the same experience as you in warmer summer cond where no tire i have ever had on a motorcycle would stay put in warmer temp .

Thats because oil in the tar snakes lifts to the surface on warmer days with obvious result ,end of story on that.

I currently have C2's on my 09 flhtcu with approx 10k miles on them thus far and they handle well and wear/mileage looks like it will be very good too.

With 10k miles the front still has a lot of meat on it & rear still has quite a lot of meat on it too though not quite as much as front due to riding 2up 95% of the time with bags loaded.

But over all i think the C2's are a well designed high quality bike tire that looks as though will also live up to it's long tread wear life claim too that's well worth cost.

Anybody using them & how do they rate?
Just ordered a pair. $318 w/free shipping. Not too bad. Hopefully, I'll get longer life out of them than I get from the Dunlops

I just put a pair of Commander II's on my RK last weekend.
I've only got 300 miles on them but so far so good.
Smooth ride, great in the corners !!
....and fwiw, tar snakes suck with any tire.

I just replaced my first set of MC2's this past Saturday, had 20k on them, tread left on the rear and cuped pretty good on the frt and needed replacing, ride two up 95% of the time till this spring, wife has her own now. 43lbs rear, 39 frt. I did replace them with MC2's. And yes they are spooky on tar snakes, just like any other motorcycle tire at hwy speed around a corner.

First put the Commanders on with 22k on the bike. Had to replace the front tire at 33k. Now at 45k I again have to change the front tire, checked and at 3. The rear is at 6, it looks like I'll be doing 3 front tires to one rear. Keep both at 41lbs. Can't figure out why the fronts are going so fast.
