Default Michelin Commander tires?

Has anyone tried the Michelin Commander tires yet?

http://www.michelinmotorcycle.com/in...nt=commanderhd

The dealer was really pushing them when I got a new tire, but they were out of stock, I stopped by the Michelin trailer at the Rapid City dealer last week, they look pretty nice.

I'm interested to hear the replies, as I'm still unsure what to
put on when time comes.

Try Metzeler, I have over 8,000 miles on mine and they still look and handle great. Me personally, I will not support France by buying from a company based in France(Michelin )

To answer the actual question...I switched over to Commanders from Dunlops, and love them. They ride much nicer than, and grip much better, especially in wet weather, which is a huge plus for me. Time will tell on how much mileage they get. But, this is only a comparison between Dunlops and Michelin.

Tires are one of those things that you have to try and compare yourself to find out what YOU like. Everyone, as well as their bikes, are different. Not everyones opinion is going to be the right one for you. One guy will swear by one brand, while the next guy hates the very same brand.

Question

I will be needing new tires soon. A few months agoI asked about the Commanders at my dealer. I was told that they (dealer) had experienced problems fitting the Commanders on tubeless rims. The bead was not seating, sidewalls too stiff, etc. Michelin supposedly directed the dealer to install a tube in the tire in order to solve the problem. Yesterday I inquired again about the status of this issue and was told that HD is still telling my dealer to install tubes in these tires when installing on tubeless rims. Has anybody else heard this from their dealer?

If this is really an issue I can't believe that I wouldn't have read about it on the forum. (Actually you probably wouldn't need to read about it, you would be able to hear the screaming and moaning reverberating through the atmosphere.)

So, how many of you have Commanders installed on tubeless rims without any issues?

I switched over to them a couple of months ago. They grip MUCH better than D402's, especially on wet roads. I have no idea how long they will last, but I didn't get that much out of my D402's, so if I can get 8,000 to 10,000 out of the Commanders I'll be happy.

I have about 3,000 miles on the Commanders so far. They are better than the Dunlop's in rain and on grooved roads. I have had Metzelers and Avon Venoms. The Avon venoms were the best handling tire IMO, Metzelers were second. For overall durability and mileage I will stick with the Commanders, because I am now putting on about 7,000 miles per year.

I rate the Commanders a 7 out of 10.

I presently have 8,000 miles on the set of Commanders on my 07 Ultra. Still got 4/32" on the rear tread, so I hope to get at least 10,000 miles. Like the ride.

Cybdet, If the Avon Venom was the 'best handling tire', any specific reason
for trying another brand ??
Reason I'm asking is, I ran the Venom's on my Valk for 75k out of
92k miles and am seriously considering changing my Dunny's
to Venom's next season, hoping to have the same results mileage
and traction wise.

What pressures are you running with yours on your Ultra? I had to boost my rear to 40 and the front to 38 for a better ride.
