99RKC shifter slop
I have owned my ride for two trouble free years now. The only issue I have had is twice I have almost lost the heel shifter with bolt coming out. Tried Loctite but then I noticed that it looked like the teeth on the heel and toe seemed a little worn so I bought new ones. Not much improvement still too sloppy for me. The shifter shaft looks good as far as I can tell. How hard is it to replace the shifter shaft or what else is there to try. There also seems to be some play in the shift shaft. Is that normal for a 99? Feels like a washer is missing or something.

The shifter shaft goes through the inner primary and here is one bolt that holds it on the lever that the shift rod attaches to. I haven't looked this in a while, but did the one on my 98 ultra. I think if you take the bolt out of where the lever fits onto the shaft, the shaft will slide out of the lever and the inner primary. The tough part is that you need to get the 2 bushings out of the inner primary, press the new ones in and put it back together. Mine has a zerk fitting, make sure that you grease it after you get it back together.
