Hey,

Looking to buy my first road bike. Saturday I'm going to look at a 2008 Electra glide police issue. Bike has 15000 miles hooker pipes street glide seat ( original seat and pipes too )HD installed radio and speakers. Owner is asking 10800 or best. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance.

'08 is a transition year with lots of one-year only parts. Personally I would look for a model from a year later, at least, or alternatively a year earlier.

I think you could find a better deal. Personally, I'd look for a 2009 or later.

2009 and newer FL's have several major upgrades to exhaust, frame, tire size, fuel tank etc. 2009 or newer may be better to wait for. The $10800 price isnt bad, but you are buying a "bare bones" bike that will need several upgrades.

Thanks for the replies guys. Checkers I'm a driver too , 8 axle jumbo tankers here in Michigan.
I'll take everything you've said in to consideration , the seller is very motivated . Cash is king and I may try to see how low he is willing to go.

17 Yrs OTR, dry van. 2+ million miles. Followed you fellas thru MI many times. I'm originally from the Badger State, moved to the Volunteer State about 20 yrs ago. Good to hear from a another pro. Bike your looking at is a decent buy. Good luck with the deal and ride safe.

Decent price. Average retail is about 12,000 for a non police Classic. I am always a little leery of police models. They are often ridden hard, and idle too much for an air cooled engine. I have never seen one that didn't have the floorboards wore off from scraping.

Any used purchase is a risk, but if you are going to be able to absorb any unforeseen expenses, this could be a good deal.

Before you purchase however, check nationwide Cycle trader. There are some really good deals out there, and especially if you call and make offers.

I got a 2013 Limited with 2,116 miles on it for 18,500 OTD.

Don't know how close you are to Wellington, Ohio, or what you budget is, but there was a Red and Merlot 2012 Limited there with 764 miles for 17,995.00. Phone number is 440-371-0545.
