Low Fuel Light at 117 miles?
WTF? I know HD fuel gauges are notoriously inaccurate, but come on! This thing is about as useless at the air temp gauge. I guess it's useful for telling me I just filled up, and if it doesn't show empty I have PLENTY of fuel.
Maybe I can make this a warranty issue. I bet I have conservatively another 70 miles in that tank. Low fuel light at 37% full? And worse, the needle points to empty from 37% to 0%. That's when a fuel gauge is needed! Lame.
I know this has been posted many times before, and I'm sort of just venting here after my ride tonight, but is there any way to make the fuel gauge work better?

Only way I know of to make it better is to buy a different gauge (i.e. non-HD, like a Dakota gauge or something)....

RE: Low Fuel Light at 117 miles?
Just checked my owner's manual, Page 44: "The low fuel lamp illuminates to indicate that you have approximately 1 gallon (3.8 liters) of gasoline left in the tank." If it illuminates when I have 2/5 of a tank (2 gallons) is this enough to bitch about as a warranty issue? Seems out of spec to me!!!
Just kidding. There's nothing they can do. I'm just a little ticked. That's all.

I always just use the odometer. I have a carb on my bike and have the reserve tank, which I like. There is a gauge, but I never really pay it any mind. I want to add one of those LED smooth top gauges and fuel filler cap. Not that the LED is more accurate, but maybe if it was lit up, I would know it was there. lol

RE: Low Fuel Light at 117 miles?
The dealer replaced the sending unit in my bike under warranty because it was not working when new,It was stuck on "E".
After replacement, the low fuel light comes on when there is about a 1/2 gal. left. The gage will read a 1/4 tank at this point.
Instead of going back to the dealer I just go by the mileage.
