He builds customers bikes. And he puts out the Best if not the best heads I have ever seen.
The daytona shootout rules are made by somebody else . Not him.
All the guys on the Daytona shootouts has totally build bikes. They weren't build as you know to ride on the street.

I've been in his shop and watched his work for 8 yrs.
Bob Woods has nothing but good to say about him.

He knows what he is doing.

Talked to him for years at the brute horse power shoot out in daytona super nice guy. And I know he runs woods cams but like I told Bob when he was telling me how great his stuff was. They are a whole lot of custom work like Wolfgang building his heads from just a casting making his own ports and combustion chambers to the rest of his work is why he wins it every year it is not just the cam and lifters. Woods designs his cams and andrews makes them and he designs his lifters and want say who makes them but he don't.

Yep !
Old Bob build and races stuff for years. And I guess you know Bobby Allison needed a engine when he was 1st racing many moons ago..
And Bob gave him a engine to use in a race. Think if I remember right it was in a boat he had.
I am from Alabama. Lived in B'ham.
Bob designs stuff like you said and has Andrews to build it. Andrews has a lot bigger place. And can do quality work to specs.
So does Tman design stuff. Think he copies some of Bobs stuff. Tman has some great cams too.

But all in all the Woods cams are some good cams.
Jamie at fuelmoto is using them and dynoing bikes to help people doing builds. And he has Williams carbs doing things with him.
So for people that needs help and don't know who to turn to. Its nice to get a package from Fuelmoto.

Hillside also uses Woods carbs and has some good heads.

But I think a lot of guys here start with a HF air it and exhaust. Fuelmoto can handle that and provide a map if they buy the tuner from him.
That is where I was trying to help them with.

And you know if you don't do it right you might not be happy with the money you spent.

Just trying to Help

Looks like the 14/15 cams make good power. How many people want to spend $390 for cams and another $150 push rods and to some people having to pay labor to do the job to pick up 6hp/4tq. Looks like the way to go is buy a set of take out 14/15 cams for less than $80 on ebay and with a good air filter and exhaust and a good tune and make 89hp and 108Tq on a pre-14 vs the $540 222s and push rods and make 96hp and 112tq. I am glad I found them dyno charts and seen this but wish I seen it before I bought the 222s and push rods to put in my bike because I already put the 14/15 cams in mine. Oh and done a little checking and the 2014-15 cams lift is .309 X R/A ratio of 1.65=.50985 lift close enough to .510 lift.
I would always go for the extra hp and tq. When your only making 90 hp 6 is a big deal. While looking at peak numbers is fine what your missing is the total torque and power curve. I don't know why someone would waste money on some factory emissions cams with a short power curve when there are so many better options.

I've sung the praises of the Woods 222's before and they are very similar to the
SE 204's but have more lift. The intake closing is the same at 34. Here is a dyno sheet from a friend's 2011 Limited or might be a 2012 model with the 222's & V&H's PD's and a Stage 1 breather tuned with a SESPT. Please note the tune from the Dealer on the 254e's they had installed and tuned and swore they were making 92hp and 106tq. They even showed my friend a sheet proven this but time and time again after he rode it the bike fell on it's face until my guys (J&B Performance) pulled the 254e's and installed the 222's.
Personally I still like the Andrews 57 cams better, especially in the 2014's.

I agree with Tn. Heritage on the Andrews 57 being better suited to the 14's. They will run as good as or better after 2800 rpms as the 222. With the added duration and larger Lobe Separation angle of the 57 it should out do the 222 in the above 3000 rpms. What these cams do is make you say the more you twist it the stronger it pulls. That is what impresses me, the long flat torque curves and the lope at idle. We aren't talking major differences on any of the bolt in cams as long as you don't go over board on the duration and split over lap.

Back in the May 2008 issue of American Iron, Donny Peterson was singing the praises of the Wood designed cams. The article was called "It's All About Torque".

I've rode both cams and I still think for the money the 57's are a better cam overall. 222's is still a number 1 cam but for my riding style the 57 is the ticket.
