I installed my wheels prior to deploying. I haven't rode the bike yet, I just mounted them. I read a few articles and they didn't mention this but I wanted to ask to be certain. Do I need to grease the bearings or are they ready as they arrived?
Who did you purchase them from? I kknow Hog Pro ships their wheels ready to bolt on and go. If the wheel bearings/seals were installed, I would hope the company sending the wheels to you would have greased them properly. Big liability if they didn't IMO. I am assuming there were no warning stickers on them.
BTW - Thanks for your service. Hope you get back to ride that thing real soon.
Since you're still in the sandbox... if you want me to make a phone call for you to verify the bearings came ready to roll, just give me the name of who you got them from and I will PM their response to you.
Thanks guys. I bought them from MC Motorsports's add on eBay. They came with the seals/bearings installed. I'd just like the peace of mind knowing it is right.
After installing the wheels it didn't rotate easily. I did use anti seize lube on the front axle and the spacers are correct. Wheels are torques correctly too. I intended on dealing with this when I returned.
The factory wheels come with sealed wheel bearings. I think they started this in 2000. I think Ab's question is, did the aftermarket wheel come with factory sealed bearings or an older style bearing? If it was an older style bearing, were they packed before installing?
Ab - I'll get a hold of them tomorrow and send you a PM for your peace of mind.
Damn, what a pisser. In my little selfishworld I think about that same stuff when I'm on the the road for only a day or two, and it drives me bonkers. I can't imagine it being that way for months on end.
Ab, you're a helluva guy. Thank you much for your sacrifice.
Stay safe brother!!

Thanks again everyone. I'm sure they are sealed but want to be sure.
I've become used to being away. I chose this profession and I have no regrets. I love what I do but also look forward to retiring in 4 years. I then want a job that allows me plenty of time with my family.
I only wished that I was able to get my bike back together prior to leaving. I have a organized pile of parts sitting on my workbench and it's killing me. It is so unlike me to not finish a project right away.
Hell if I lived in TX, I'd have Bryan and Phil throw another weekend wrenching party so that it was finished when I got back.
