Default First Time for Everything

I just purchased a set of Michelin Commander II's for my 2013 Street Glide and I intend on taking the wheels and tires in to my local HD and have them mounted. Problem is I'm comming off a 07 Fatboy with a single brake caliper on the front so I always knew left from right. The tread on the II's looks directional........should I mark the left from right before I take it off or is the axle nut such that I can't mix it up? I'm pretty sure that the V in the center pattern points back at the rider but I need to make sure.

Thanks!

yes mark everything, direction and side. even if it can be used on either side its always best to put things back on as they were. the spacers have lines on one side. it says to put them back on a same way. not sure how it really matters but i guess it does it they point it out.

Get out the cell phone and take a few close up pictures of everything before you start disassembly.

The tires have arrows on them, so that's easy, and just make sure u put the spacers back in the same way they came out.

You can mark your rim with a piece of tape, on the tape mark the direction that the wheel rotates
then pull the wheel. Remove the tape after installing the rim with your new tires. EZ

I have changed a lot of tires thru the years and have never heard of wheel spacers being directional ? And now you all have me wondering because I just pulled the rear wheel off my 10 SG last November and had a new tire put on it and I never even bothered to look at which way they came out just that I had them on the right side. Guess I better start reading and researching even before the simple jobs.

What has always worked for me when I need an arrow on the rim of anything, is cut a piece of black electrical tape an inch long or less, then trim it into the shape of an arrow.
Then stick your little black arrow where you want.
"Lil Stickies" are just cool...

A good shop should be able to put the new one on the same way the old one came off, but marking it is going to be the cheapest insurance.

Thanks for all the help folks, I measured the spacers with a digital caliper......they are the same. I also put some masking tape on the left side "marked it left" and confirmed with shop the pointy end of the tread pattern points at the rider. While I was there I picked up a manual.....it will come in handy for the rear tire. Much Thanks again.

BTW I did find the directional arrow..........I was looking on the side wall "like a car tire" .........picture was great.

You will be using a jack. I just put the spacers back on the axle in proper order.
How can a spacer that is exactly the same matter which side it goes on?
I put back on the same side. I just put each spacer on the correct side by my jack. Left or right. The rest is marked.
