I have a 2014 SGS and I just installed a adjustable backrest. I like the idea of being able to change up positions on the fly. Have a bad back. I borrowed a friends new hammock seat (before buying) only to find out it doesn't work with the adjustable backrest. I am 5'7 with a 31" inseam. The hammock was a bit wide anyways. So what about the sundowner? Any info if that works with my backrest on the new bikes? I'm also upgrading for the wife while touring. Just got a tour pak and need to give her a better ride. So what should I be looking at? Also I do have the option of returning the adjustable backrest and buying a fixed HD one.
Thanks for the help.

In my sig picture you see a Sundowner donated from a 2010 Ultra and adjustable back rest.
I also modified the back rest pad to lower it, now it sits at a sweet spot for my back.

What mod did you do? It looks good. Also if I put a tour pack on with that seat, there is plenty of passenger room? Wife is 5'6, 125lbs

The Sundowner seat came off a bike with a tour pack so it should work, there is plenty of room for a passenger.
To lower the backrest pad, I took it apart and cut a hole inside the pad plastic with a soldering iron so the support can be pushed all the way up and remounted with a longer screw, it is very crude but works, can't see the mod because of the pad cover.
I'll post a pic tonight.

Thanks. I'm gonna go to the local dealer and demo the sundowner tomorrow to make sure it fits and see how it feels. I'd prefer to keep the adjustable rest. And yes it does need to be lowered a bit more.
Here is my modified backrest, it is on the stock seat in this picture but fits the same on my Sundowner. The stock backrest was too high on my back and pushed me forward, this mod lowered the pad so it fits the curve of my back perfectly. The picture of it mounted shows the hump on top, that is the top of the support bar, that is how much the pad was lowered. The next picture is the crude but sturdy mounting which you don't see anyway. The third picture shows where the bend of the bar is in relation to the bottom of the pad. I used a soldering iron to make a hole for the bar to go through the plastic inside the pad, the rest of the stuff I used I found in my basement.
