Default Decided on the KST Mayhem Bars.. 14" or 16"

Hey Guys,

I've read through what seems to be hundreds of "bar threads". I like the look of the Yaffe Monkey Bars but after seeing how proud they are of them and getting less than decent service at their tent at AZ Bike week I decided on KST as i've read nothing but good things.

Anyhow, I'm 6' but have a shorter inseam, like 31". I'm torn as 14" seems the most popular size but from what I read everyone wishes they went 2" taller. I'm traveling right now so I don't have the luxury of measuring/building things from PVC to get an idea. It seems like something most people would error on the side taller bars vs shorter ones?

Also, does anyone make black braided clutch cables? I'd like this along with black brake lines and fittings. I was looking to order everything through EP but I didn't see they carry the Satin black bars.

Thanks,

Casey

Magnum Shielding makes black braided lines and cables. As for the bars that's really up to your personal taste. Most seem to say go taller than you were originally thinking. If you have a fairing bike do you like the look of 16's over the fairing?

I'm still in decision mode, I had 12.5" on my old RK was thinking wanted the same on the Ultra and then decided on 14" think 16 wouldn't look right IMHO...6ft here too.

I should have noted these are for my 2011 SG.

I noticed you're in New Caney. I'm working in Conroe this week. Do you think we could meet up so I can see if the 14s would work? That is assuming you don't mind me sitting on your bike.

Thanks,

PS. I like the look of the 14 the best in terms of where they land against the fairing but definitely lean towards function/comfort for this exercise.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Casey

I was debating on 14" Vs. 16" Twin Peaks. I am also 6' with a 31" inseam. I decided to follow the general advice about going 2" over. I'm glad that I did. The 16" have my hands about an inch below my shoulders on this bike. I would have regretted the 14".

Also, I am in Highlands, Tx this week. It's a little bit of a drive from Conroe, but you are welcome to come check them out.
