Default Which Westcoast bars should I go with?

Hey y'all,

I need some opinions on which Westcoast MX T-bars to go with.

I've got an 05 FXDL that I just pulled my apes off of and am struggling to find a set up that I'm gonna be happy with. I've tried Z-bars and flat-trackers and now I'm drooling over the MX bars.

Here's my questions/thoughts:

Being a Narrow Glide that I'm not planning on running a quarter fairing on, I don't want to run the bars too high to avoid making the front end look too thin and spindly. That being said it's a toss up between the 8 or 10 inch sets. With the MX bars, the risers are 6 and 8 inches respectively. I'm trying to find a balance between the bars looking to tall and thin and losing the "custom T-bar" look. (Sorry if that doesn't really make sense, it's almost 6 am and I've got insomnia! ahaha).

Most of the Westcoast, or any brand of T-bar for that matter, setups that I've seen have been on FXD's or FXDB with the 28 degree rake. With my rake at 32 degrees, do you think that if I go with the 10 inch bars that they'll be in my lap? I like to have a bit of reach to the bars. Also, with the given rake, do you think that the top cross bar will be at a comfortable position given that they are designed to sit flat on a 28 degree rake?

Finally, any experience on how long it takes to get the bars? I've got my bike apart and riding season is a few weeks away here in my area of Canadia.

I know fit and comfort is a personal thing, but I do value a lot of the opinions on here, so any input is appreciated.

Oh and some other useful info:

I'm just about 6' tall with long arms and wide shoulders.
I like a "flat" set up, meaning that I don't like my wrists turned in too much, I like them fairly straight - so not much pullback. I figure the Westcoast bars will suit this.

Sorry for the long late night ramble y'all. Hopefully I can place the order this week!

Actually, don't worry about it guys.

Scotty from Westcoast T-Bars hooked me up with all the info I needed.

Thanks!

So what are you going with? You could always mock up some bars out of PVC and see how they feel before ordering.

The PVC is a great idea actually. I might give that a go.

I'm going to go with the 10" bars. That was Scotty's suggestion and I trust his input as he makes the damn things! I agree with him though as the 8" riser of the 10" bar would give good proportions to my front end.

Now the only question is chrome or black? Black is ready to ship but still waiting to hear about the chrome. As you can see from my sig pic, my bike isn't really blacked out and I'm not sure I want to head down that road yet.

Good luck with the MX bars! It's a good looking bar and I agree that chrome is the way to go on your bike. Hope it works out for you. Unlike a riser/bar setup where you can adjust the set-up, there is very little adjusability with a T Bar.
