I try to stay away from Ethanol mostly because of the other side affects. I read an article that some
stations will run as much as 50%
When planing a trip I use google maps and Pure-Gas web site to mark stations that have non-ethanol,
then upload to my phone. I also have the Pure-Gas app on my phone.

hmmm, I was under the impression that alcohol had a higher octane rating than gas so that should mean less pinging..that said, where I live all we can get is the mixed gas and I never have a problem with pinging...
Respectfully disagree...... Ethanol can't hold its octane value as long as regular gasoline. So 87 becomes 84 in a relatively short time span.
The other problem is in rural areas if 91 is available. It is so old, it's worse than 87.
I hate this! The whole thing sucks!

Ethanol has no effect on knocking, that is caused by low octane causing preignition under load. Up here in Minnesota, gasoline has 10% ethanol, unles you can find non-oxyginated fuel, and they are only allowed to be used in boats, atvs, motorcycles, and I believe in classic cars.

While Ethanol is a octane rating booster, it is a unstable one. If E10 or E15 needs to be used relatively soon after it has been blended or bad things can happen. Remember that Ethanol absorbs moisture.
If you have to by this stuff burn it don't store it.
