Default 2007 FLHTC voltage regulator

Got my scooter back from having all the fluids changed this afternoon and took it for a roll. Everything looked good, voltage was good oil pressure was good but after I got back in town I shut it off to do some business and when I went back and started it the GREEN and RED light was on. I took it back to the shop and he did a computer check and it showed that it was not charging the battery.
I havent ridden much this year because of health issues but noticed a small oil drip under the bike while it was sitting in the shed. I cleaned the bottom with a can of GUNK foam a few weeks ago because I seen that the wires from the engine case to the voltage regulator was soaked with oil. I have ridden it about 150 miles sense the foam cleaning and have not noticed any drip .
Long story short , does it seem like a voltage regulator issue or a stator issue ?? I had to have the voltage regulator replaced a few years ago and went back with the OEM HD regulator. The dude at the shop said that they have an aftermarket voltage regulator that has a two year warranty and is $50 cheaper. I am planning on going back with the HD regulator because every time I have tried to go the cheaper route it has cost me more in the long run. Has anyone had any regulator issues with their 2007 FLHTC ?? Would you go aftermarket with a warranty or go OEM HD ??
Thanks in Advance for any imput .

being that you have a tech to change your fluids, I'd expect the best course is to have a tech do a complete test of the charging system.

the tests are simple and take minutes with a voltmeter.

the forums tech board has an electrical section with the test procedures.you could read that over and see if it is something you want to take on
