Mine started that after I changed the cams. Never did it before that. Mine sounds like it's coming from the right side. Quits after it warms up.

I went and picked up some conventional Harley 20w50 oil today at lunch. Going to swap it out and see if the noise is any better...

Ive got the same setup roughly in my bike and same noise going on. I'm curious to see if the oil change helps. Have not changed compensator yet though

Oil change didn't help... I've noticed I only get the noise between idle and 2200rpm. Higher rpm's the noise disappears.

How many miles on the motor now since its been built? Has the issue been there since day one of the build?

I've got about 12k on the build and it just started this noise after I got back from the sturgis rally.

Hypothetically if my primary chain was too lose would the noise stop when it came up to operating temperature like mine is doing? I need to take a video to see if anyone can ID this.

I'm sure a video would help. Crazy that it goes all the way up to 2200 in the rpm's. No difference in the performance of the bike?

Bike seems to be running fine, no performance issues.

================================================

Since your motor may have clearance issues & or wear that are made worse with syn oil that thins more making bottom end knock then then std dino then try this std dino oil in the motor thats a bit heavier grade which is specifically formulated for HD v-twins and try their primary oil formulated for HD's too.

Sometimes the compensator can knock too seeming to be the motor when it may not be the case which i also rec the spectro oil for the prim to change that at the same time too.

If you decide to try both these oils please note what oil pressure is with motor hot with the syn and then with motor hot when you switch to spectro's std dino 25w-60 motor oil formulated for HD's.

Also let us know if going to those 2 oil stopped the knocking noise and if it also quieted down the valvetrain if it had been noisy prior too.
