Default 30T question

I have a 2012 street glide and wanted to switch to a 30t. Does that make first gear too short?

It seemed like the guys with earlier models had taller gears. And thought it to be a great mod. Didn't get responses from newer bike guys.

Also, another member suggested a 30t from a currant trike from a price stand point.

Just wanted to clearify from an earlier thread.

103" 555cam, no cat, A/C, tuner......

Thanks

I ran a 30 tooth on my 2010 Ultra and loved it.Great performance mod and it will pull good even in 6th gear.

Running 30 tooth in my 2010. (Same gearing as yours from factory) and i find it just perfect.
1st is just right and 6th becomes usable at 65-70.
Should be perfect match for your cam.

I'm running the 30T trike sprocket. It was a great mod after adding 555 cams. I can't even tell that it shortened first gear from an early shifting standpoint. It made it easier to nearly idle away from stops and helped with 6th gear cruising. If you do this mod, stay away from the Falcon carbon reinforced belts. The Gates belts seem to hold up better.

This is what I did as well. Keep in mind you will need a tuner that has the ability to recalibrate your speedo.

Id change the comp sprocket to a 32t. Either way it would make it funner to ride! It reduces the gear ratio from the stock 1.36 to a stouter, better pulling ratio of 1.44, by using a lower tooth count sprocket.

You can save the $150 on the belt if you don't mind slotting the swing arm. Only have to remove 3/16th" of material and add a gusset on the under side.

600 , you can save a lot by slotting the swing arm and using the stock belt , and using the trike 30t it's only if I remember right 45-50 bux from board tracker. I did this mod for less than 125 bux
