Shock lengths
Several of the shock makers can built you a 12" that will be a very good ride - check out the Ohlin's or the Works Performance - I went 13" Works ARS and am very happy - Lots of opinions here, lol - good luck...
I bought a 15 LOW - thinking the HD had improved the ride comfort in the past 11 years - NOT,,,lol... took off the LOW and am now back at standard. - oh well, live and learn

a stock shock in the SG is 12", the others 13" that is eye to eye. The difference in ride is accomplished with better dampening BUT most people do not seem to understand that not all shocks have rebound, the part that keeps you from being ejected after a bump.
so a 12" without rebound measures about the same as a 13" with rebound. The 13 at rest measures 13", installed and SAG set at about 1" means it is now 12" eye to eye. Over simplified for sure. same goes for a stock air 13" without rebound the 13" is 1" shorter and now sits at 12" eye to eye, again simplified rounded out measurements. You use about 1/3 of the total stroke for rebound.
