....before you....
I know, I know ... sometimes it does seem repetitive but considering we have over 30,000 members and counting, plus we have new members signing up daily, it just happens. Often their questions are posted not only to research but to participate in the forum. If you don't like the repeat question threads, move on!
Don't know what the problem is ..... so many new Harley riders out there .... conversations are fun to engage in. Whether it has been covered before or not. I thought this was what a forum is?
I do tend to agree with technical things but so many of the conversations are 'subjective' and nice to get perspectives on things. People may search for something and find a post 6+ months old ... and think... maybe not worth to start responding to a 'dead thread' but would rather start a fresh one for some 'fresh perspectives'.
Maybe you can spend a little more time in the politics section ..... then this forum section will have fresh perspective as most in there is rehashed for the last 4-7 years on a rotating basis (Bush Lovers.... Bush Bashers..... Hillary for President ... More Troops... Cut-n-Run..... Gas Prices and greedy Oil Companies)... Yeah.... that about sums up the politics section in a nut-shell. Lotsa lotsa threads about the same thing over and over.
See a subject line that has no interest in reading as it has been re-hashed too many times for your taste ..... Recommend not opening it up and moving onto something you do find interesting.
I've found valueable information in reading the posts as they are 'new' and I don't think I would just 'searching' on "Mustang Seats" unless I was interested in buying one. However even though I'm not in the market for a Mustang Seat or SunDowner...etc ... Nice to read fresh posts from people who have 'em and can give some reviews about 'em from a likes/dislikes'. However ... with fresh posts coming out about different saddles and reading through them ... it, to me, would appear those tend to be the 2 most common saddles and would do more in-depth looking at those.
Other posts (for new people coming in) get to see thoughts of experienced riders (such as what oil brands they like or would it be better to go with a PCIII or SERT). Sometimes new Harley Riders don't even quite know what is available to them or good routes to go. They might have an '07 and they are being talked into a PCIII which might have some 'issues' for starting or whatnot. Maybe the SERT is a better way or... simply a Stage 1 download. Fresh posts are always good. It is a good starting place for many of us where something peaks our interest ... and later down the line when we really want more information about it we can do the searches for more in-depth research and look at most of the posts dealing with the different saddles or oil... or PCIII/SERT.
I guess maybe I'm over-simplifying things..... Posts are good. Keeps the sub-forum fresh. If nobody posted topics unless it was 'something new' you wouldn't see many new posts in here. and the site would slowly become more stagnate. Fresh new posts encourage new Harley riders to 'contribue and question' and not feel intimidated about posting questions/issues here on the forums.

I look at it this way, new people join and have new ideas and you get many new kinds of answers from even the elders here when the same question comes back up.

Just think, if you read all these questions before, then you knowthe answers.
So youcan look like a pro answering them for someoneand become Road Master by lunchtime at the same time. lol
Ido agree people should use the search, but I don't have a problem with them asking a question either. By time someone reads through 500 postings, it would have been easier to ask.
p.s. to all out there, there was no slight intended by using the term "Road Master" I hope to be there in 950 or so more posts.

Personally, I take issue with this post. I haven't seen one thread that asks what "pips" to put on a bike.

I’m sure most of us have been guilty of posting a question without searching before we submit it. Hell, I just did it last week & JB was the 1st person to give me crap for it. I still got some helpful responses & even learned a few things from others. I’m sure if we search hard enough we can find most of our answers to our questions without having to submit them but if that’s the case, why have a live forum with postings? A glorified online owners & service manual would suffice then wouldn’t it? I think most repeat questions come from users like me (newer members) & we just want to participate & have others respond back to our questions. This forum is my morning & evening newspaper. I’m on it everyday & if I read a topic I don’t like or wish to answer, I just close that page & move onto the next question. I thought that was the way its suppose to work? As long as your questions are legit I say keep’em coming!
Just my 2 cents worth!
