Default Broken fairing bracket and fix

Well with the early spring we are having I decided to de-winterize the bike and install the new Klock Werks windshield I ordered. After a test ride I noticed a bit more vibration than normal coming from the windshield and the fairing. I always had a bit of a vibration from around 1800-2100 RPM but this was excessive. So I decided to remove the front fairing and sure enough a broken left fairing bracket. So after a call to the Harley dealer and a kick in the nuts with an $89.00 (CDN) price tag, I decided to see if I could weld it back together. Taking an idea from a fellow member I welded the broken piece back onto the bracket and added an "L" shaped piece of steel to reinforce it. Worked perfectly. So good in fact I decided to take the right side off and do some preventative repairs since I had the front opened up. Beats paying 89 bucks to the dealer. Now if I can only figure out that 1800-2100 vibration.

Nice fix, now you don't have to worry about either side!

Did that to my '06 SG. It held up pretty good. I didn't do any welding. I went to Home Depot and bought galvanized angle brackets, drilled a few holes and bolted them on. I had 43k on the bike when I sold it and they were still holding up.

When I had my 07 SG in for paint my Indie fixed all four of my brackets for under $10 with brackets from the hardware store. Been solid for over three years now.

Common problem and common repair. I just bolted an L bracket on mine.
