I added bag fillers to my EG then realized my antennae wouldn't fit so I bought a HD hidden antennae for inside the fairing. The reception is horrible and it differers depending On location. Once in a while it's not too bad but for the most part it is not even close to the reception I got from my external mounted antennae. I have a hog tunes amp, not sure if that makes a difference. I'm wondering if anyone has had any succes with that type or are there any tricks to get it to work better. I followed the direction to the tee
The bigger the antenna, the better chance at receiving a signal. I have seen zero antennas that perform as well as the OEM mast. With that said, if you have a weak signal, a signal booster may help. But remember, it can only boost what it receives.
I have a hidden antenna and is sucks. I now only listen to CD's and my IPod. Yes, there is a couple of local channels that I recieve, but I am now so used to not listening to the radio except when in my vehicles, I don't miss it anymore. Hope you find your comfort level. Peace.
Yes, it did. I am thinking of taking the fairing off again next weekend and moving the amp to see if it clears up the reception. Currently I put the whip back on and have ran it up under my seat but it is not cutting it either.
Maybe we are getting interference when the amp is so close to the antennae port on the radio?
I have not found a good solution either. My radio sounded much better when I had a whip.
I put in a relatively inexpensive hidden antenna, and it seems to work pretty good. I really can't tell a difference with any of the stations in the area, all the ones I normally listen to come in fine. I still don't use FM very often, though.
