So, after some consideration I finally pulled the trigger. Called Howard and ordered a set of #2 adjustable shocks (#2 1/2). I have been through a set of 12" stock, 13" stock, Progressive 944 standard spring and currently running 12" Harley premium adjustable....I think I would have been better to bolt 2 pieces of 2" sch. 40 pipe between the shock bolts and run this dang dump truck as a rigid and saved my money.
Howard is easy to talk to, nice guy. Assured me of a better ride once dialed in correctly.
I'll report back when I get them. I'm sure it will be a while, new shipment of these shocks don't arrive until 4-26.
Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself it will be money well spent or to have others say... smart decision?
I've had people blow smoke up my alimentary waste gate about the the 944s - and I know from my own experience you don't feel the difference... you think you feel the difference and well... in reality you may feel a slight difference vs. a 13" with fresh fluid and air'd up right but nothing which will make up the $$.
Now... from what I understand. You made a decision which you should have out the gate. I've talked with a few people who have gone the Howard route and they are happy... but the happiness didn't arrive immediately. It came after riding some 500 miles, and realizing there is an optimal adjustment and alterations to that optimal adjustment to your own liking.
Am I saving my money up for that call to Howard... Yes. Am I envious of those who have the money... sure. But I'm holding on to realistic expectation.

I didn't know too much about Ohlins's right out the gate, I just knew my 2002 road king rode like a caddy and my 2011 SG rides like a dump truck so I have been trying different options, after reading a lot of posts on here I decided to call the dude and visit his site etc. I then spent some more time researching Ohlins shocks and hope this will help. I'll pay the money to have a better ride, either that or throw this b*tch off a bridge.
Recently installed ohlins hd159 (equivalent to 3-3) shocks on my 14 sgs. Ordered directly through ohlins, bolted them on without touching a single adjustment and was amazed with the ride right out of the box! Haven't had to adjust them much at all, 1 turn on the preload and 2 clicks on the rebound to soften them up a touch and the difference in the ride compared to the stockers still blows me away! By far the best purchase I have made yet on the street glide, the ride is so much more enjoyable and no more tensing up when I see a crack in the road approaching. It was a big chunk to pay for 2 shocks, but not regretting it one bit

Thanks for the reassurance. Surprisingly, the Harley adjustable have been the more comfortable out of the 4 sets I have had on the bike, the 12" stock being the worst. The 944's would have been fine on a smooth race track because the bike felt nice and planted, but I live in Arkansas....the frickin roads here suck ***, especially in the LR area, not sure WTF our Hwy dept is thinking, can't build roads for sh*t around here!
RK, welcome to the Club, I have no doubt that you have a great many happy comfy miles ahead. It's the only way to travel!
Speaking of travelling, I see you are from Bedford, I'm heading home to see my family in about 6 weeks. Landing in Norwich, then over to Gorlston-on-sea be there for about a week or so.

My Dad is from Norwich! Have a great trip. The weather should be much improved by the time you get here.
