After reviewing the design of the K&N 3909 backplate design last night, I too decided that the "vortex" design of what K&N had put together in the 3909 setup was a better attempt(and with success) at moving more air than the aforementioned product. I mainly went after this product initially as what I was hoping and that would be a better gasket between the TB and the backplate that K&N accepts in the setup of the 3909. Too much potential for an air leak IMO by doubling up on the base gasket and using the stock gasket as well.
These things are just crap. "Straightens out the turbulance for better combustion?" There are just as many gimmicks on the market (Turbulator for one) that claimMORE turbulance in the air makes for better combustion. $69 for a hunk of screen? No thanks.
Ok, After 1500 miles with the Jet scream , I will have to admit to getting about 2 more miles to the gallon. As far as preformance, a littlequicker throttle response,But a lot more smoothresponse from the engine, can go 35 miles a hour in5th gear with little or no lugging. In my opinion, worth the 69 bucks.
Well, many will call BS BUT if you pull your intake filter (on your cage) andlook at what you find mounted inside of your FI intake on the motor, you will see the exact same thing (honeycomb). When I installed a K&N on my Deville (along with flowmasters), I ripped out the honeycomb. Car idled worse (rough) and lost a couple of mpg's.....until I bought and reinstalled another honeycomb.
