No surprise "auto tune" tunes lean but the tune shouldn't really change (go rich) at altitude if the o2 and map sensors are working correctly. Either way a proper Dyno tune should "fix" it.

I do an annual cross country through that area Georgia, Calif, DC, back). Bear in mind you have different gas mixtures between the southeast and the west.. and more availability of no ethanol gas too. Of course, the winds in Ok, Kansas, western Colorado all play heck with your gas mileage. I run a PCV with autotune and depend on it to compensate for elevation, temp, etc. Just saying

My gas mileage in Kansas was absolutely horrible. Highwinds and running at 85 to 90 mph. I was only getting about 110 miles to a tank.

They say the higher you go in elevation, the lower grade gas you really need due to lower oxygen levels...
Your explanation sounds pretty spot on. Actually, I think I should just move to Colorado.

This bike has such a noticeable difference today riding in comparison to CO. It's running very "harsh" it seems. I know FuelMoto can fix this and I'm gonna contact them. If more fuel needs to be added to mimic the rich sensation I had in CO from thin air and low oxygen, I don't see how this can't be adjusted with the PowerVision.
