Default Speedometer went wacky!

I recently bought a 95 Road King for a second bike to spend more money basically....The other nite while riding (of course) I looked down at the speed-o and realized it was stuck on 35.....Did'nt matter if I slowed down or sped up it stayed there. I stopped and shut the bike off hoping this would work, but to no avail.....Once on the road again it went right back top 35. So I said screw it,....then about 5 miles down the road I look and it's working fine. Any ideas as to what could cause this?

Default RE: Speedometer went wacky!

probably ain't relevent, butl, in my car it was the speed sensor (an electronic device that replaced the speedo gear) that was causing a similar problem

More than likely, you just need to clean the speed sensor. I bet you find a bunch of metal shavings stuck to it.

It's on top of the tranny, on the right side, near the end of the starter. It's held in place with a single allen screw. It's black and has one wire attached to it.
