Need some help from my knowledgeable forum members. 08 electra glide with 35000 miles. All of the sudden after riding for about an hour i made a left hand turn at a light . As I changed from first to second gear the bike started knocking and I pulled over and shut it off. I waited a while and restarted and rode it home 2 blocks. Later I rode it again a few miles and this time in a parking lot it did it again and shut off by itself! I restarted it 2 hours later and rode it home without issues. Any ideas? Thx
If it where me, I'd start with checking the battery ground to frame connections. Your left turn scenario may or may not be a clue, but I'd also be checking your harness wiring as it travels up to and into the faring. Do you know if you lost lights or just ignition? Possible bad bank angle sensor? If you tried to start the bike without cycling the ignition and it wouldn't crank, but would start after you cycled the ignition, BAS is what I'd look at (I believe it's part of the TSM/TSSM system module). You've got someplace to start now.
Good luck.
Boy did I read that wrong. Sheesh. Evidently I loose all comprehension after 10pm.
sorry, all oil levels are fine. I looked at some of the wiring and all seems OK. I rode it around my court this morning and it seems fine. I am afraid to ride it further .
So, first time was left hand turn, going into 2nd gear. The second time was in a parking lot, and presumably at rather low speed as well.
So, is this a low speed or perhaps low rpm thing? Like accidentally lugging the engine, especially if you're running low octane gasoline. As well, possibly a drive train noise perhaps related to 2nd gear (if you happened to be in that gear in the parking lot).
