Default 5" stretched saddlebags

Alright

Need some advice. I have 5" stretched bags, purchased off eBay from HC Baggers / bagger projects.

Nice bags but aren't of the same caliber of some of the higher priced ones. None the less, the rubber supports from my stocvk bags fit right into the support bracket slot on the bags without a problem. The issue is this:

Once the bag is adjusted on the support bracket so that the quick releases lock in without excessive strain, the bottom of the bag is maybe an 1/8 or 1/4" (very close) from the pipe. As i ride of course it bounces and bangs around and eventually the bag meets the pipe and has burned the heck outta my brand new paint on the bottom of the bag. I'm looking for a way to increase that distance between bag and pipe without making it look whacked in any way.

Thoughts ?

Thanks.

Bruce

Maybe some type of 'heat shield' fabricated to go on the bottom of bags ?

Think I got me a fix. Just a little adjustment of where I put some washers. Lock washer on top of the exhaust mounting bracket others under it. Gave me about 1/4" additional.

How about posting an after pic from the back
It's not uncommon to have to shim, grind, etc aftermarket bags & fenders - I had to do the same with mine from Bad Dad - not a big deal but ALWAYS best to do prior to paint...

I posted 2 pics. One shows the clearance I gained. And the other shows where I placed washers. Do you not see them ?
