Man, that front end is way cool !!! That sorta mod is my next one. I really like your choice of wheels, can you give me some details on what the parts and cost would run?
I'm doing the same thing, just waiting for new fairing so I can get all painted at once......
All you do is get yerself a 7/16" wrench and then loosen the bolts that hold the latchpin brackets to bike enuff that you can rotate and move them around. Next fit the hard bag on the bottom rail and slide the bag into the position you like forward/aft.....then insert latch pins into latch brackets and tighten bracket bolts(you will need to rotate and adjust brackets to new position as you do this).....Look down from above to make certain both bag are equal distance fore/aft before you tighten opposite side.
Thanks Yodadykeith, I did that exact procedure, my concern is that the forward and and aft mount are spaced differently from the bike, the front mount seems closer the bikethan the rear mount. Is that normal, they seem to fit horizontally but not laterally. i will post a picture tomorrow.
Yes, it is normal.....Look closely from above and you will see why the front bracket doesn't extend away from the bike as much as the rear....The rears must be longer to compensate for the narrower area they bolt to......
If in doubt, just ask dealer parts guy if part numbers are same for mount brackets......The worst that can happen is you would buy a pair of either front or rear brackets to make bags install parallel to fender.......Mine look fine, but who knows how yours look depending on year of bikes/bags.

You can put a washer (spacer) on the bolts (between the bracket and the fender rails)for the front mount, to move it out a bit. I actually had to do this to my rk custom bags, so the bolt would stop eating up the lid of the bags...
I replaced the leather bags on my Road King Classic with hard bags to get the additional weather protection and security. They went on easily with just a minor readjustment of the mounting tabs. I hung around eBay for about a month before a set in my color finally came up for sale.
