I got the Twin Power lithium in the spring. So far also good, got it on sale for $259 free shipping. 16 lbs lighter than stock. I like to keep my bike as light as possible. I also bought an Optimate charger which I used once.

I replace the batteries in our road bikes every third season (or sooner if needed) and they stay on tenders when not in use.

This spring Battery Mart had a sale on their Odyssey batteries so I bought two for our Softails.
Next spring I'll watch for their sale and order another Odyssey for my Ultra and rotate the old battery into another bike or perhaps the generator.

I'd have to see some reliable info on lithium (or any other) type of battery longevity before I'd pay twice as much as an OEM style.

I've been running a Ballistic 12 cell lithium battery in my Hayabusa 4+ years with no issues. Thing is so damn small and light weight it's ridiculous. If your the type of person who maintains the upkeep on their bike i don't see a lithium giving you problems. It's when people don't regularly charge and alllow the battery to completely drain is when the cells get ruined and the battery doesn't function or hold a charge properly.

I'm too old to try new things, like carrying a fire extinguisher on my BO.

I thought I was too, however in installing later bags to my early Evo, I had to move the battery to under the seat and the only solution available at the time was a smaller high CCA lithium battery. Since then the latest traditional batteries have gained a lot of CCA, so a 'normal' one may fit in future, if and when the time comes. Sometimes a man has to do......

" Lithium is the best "

That has yet to be proven.

Lithium motorcycle batteries have quite ways to go to earn a deserved rep for lasting 5.5-6yrs on avg like a quality Yuasa's GYZ32HL agm (500cca) & Deka's ETX30L (400cca) batteries have proven to do for many yrs now @ 50%+ less cost with better colder temp performance too.

My prior bike (1700cc/102ci air cooled v-twin) to my current HD still has the Deka AGM battery i installed in it 10/2009 that still going strong 7+ yr later according to the current owner just spoke a few wk back.

again, many guys are getting 5.5-6+yrs even 7+ yrs out of the Yuasa GYZ series & Deka ETX series AGM series/design motorcycle batteries @ 50%+ less cost with good CCA power and better cold temp perf then lith bike batteries for those that ride in colder temps.

When Lithium motorcycle battery tech is upgraded/redesigned to give better cold temp performance along with also proving they can reliably last 5.5-6+yrs on avg (or longer) along with a 50% cost reduction then they will be competitive with todays high quality maint free fact activated AGM bike batteries like i mentioned here.

But other then custom motorcycle app that needs a smaller battery with decent CCA's to start for example a lrg dist HD v-twin (esp w-high comp) todays lith bike batteries are just not cost effective for the avg HD touring bike rider let alone Lithium bike batteries still having to prove they are just as reliable with long srv'c life like the agm's i am reff to here.

JMHO & $.02 on it.

My Yuasa is fine and I commute daily and year round, albeit only 7 miles. But adding a Power Commander V under the seat requires a shoehorn and mallet. With the ABS components there is barely enough space after some moving around and trimming a forward tab on the battery cover. Mounting the seat requires care.

When the time comes I could use a shorter battery. The battery cover has to go too, of course.

Ummm, I think you are mistaken in your claims that the AGM's and Yuasa's are BETTER for cold starts and cold weather performance.

On my Kawasaki forum a ton of guys bought the Shorai's when they first came out and overwhelmingly the midwest guys all started praising it's performance in cold weather.

11 degrees

19 Degrees

17 Degrees

32 Degrees

Where the Shorai's shine what a lot of people don't know and you can see in the videos is where it's too cold to start.....they keep hitting it and as the battery warms up it gets stronger and stronger unlike conventional batteries. I wouldn't want to try to start my glide after sitting out all night in the teens......but could with the Shorai.

After doing more research I found that Yuasa makes a heavy duty battery that is rated at 32amh and 500 cca. The model #GYZ32HL. It's a little more money but sounds like the most powerful battery that will fit. It's like a deep cycle version of a motorcycle battery for heavier electrical loads.

Its a little more money then wnat, not a lithium bike battery thats 2x-3x more money.

I have had a Yuasa GYZ32HL 500cca battery in my hd since buying it new & installing on 4/2016 (approx 8,500-9k miles on it) and it spins the motor over/starts it considerably faster & easier then it ever had in the past with a diff battery.

I bought Yuasa's GYZ32HL / 500cca battery from Phat perf online for a total of $132 to me door in 1.5-2 days tops cost to cost.

You cant go wrong with either Yuasa's GYZ32HL & or Dekas ETX30L maint free factory activated AGM battery for $98 to your door from High-Tech battery online.

But no matter which new battery you decide to buy its always a good idea to 1st top off its charge/fully charge it just prior to install for 1st use.

Good luck.
