Wow, a lot of misinformation on LI batteries. Oh well time will play this all out.
For those that don't know, you can't use these batteries with a "smart" charger or tender because these devices try to de-sulphate the lead acid plates. This type of action is lead acid specific and affects the LI batteries negatively.
If they were to make a bike or car charging system LI specific, they simply would move the circuitry embedded in the LI battery into the bikes charging system. In other words the charging system itself would only be added to anyway. Better to have a charging system that can accommodate either tech as opposed to being tech specific.
LI technology is emerging, and is getting better with every new iteration. If weight is an issue in your bike, then get an LI battery. For me, I haven't had to replace a bike battery in so long LI wasn't even available. Rest assured that although I haven't ever purchased one, I know plenty about the tech and how it's applied.
My batterymart ETX30L Big Crank (non lithium) $110 delivered to your door.

is going on 6 years and is still going strong.
Of course if not running it's at home in the garage on the tender which I believes contributes the longevity of it as well.

Answered a question I asked earlier that hadn't been answered. Thanks.
I rode by my Dealer today, and talked with a parts guy there that I know pretty good. I asked Him what did He think about Li Batteries. He said if I want one, He can order them, but advised against it. He said He has ordered 2 of them, both were replaced within the one year warranty. I told Him "No, thank you".
As mentioned earlier, they may be the way of the future, But I am going to wait a little while. Have at it, gentlemen...
