Default 98 Roadking / idle?

Got my 98 Roadking Classic (fuel injected)a couple weeks ago. My previous ride was a sportster(carbed). Here's my question. Bike starts right up, goes to high idle, runs smooth, but it takes a good 15 minutes of riding (80 degrees out) before it drops to the low idle. I'm not familiar with fuel injection. Is this normal? I was at a dealer yesterday and happened to talk to a mechanic and he said that's just the way it is on the 98's. By the way it has a powercommander3, the mechanic said that would have nothing to do with it. I'm not sure I always believe some of these guys so I thought I would ask here. Thanks, Shane

Where did you buy the bike? was it in a diff. climate area? I had this prob in the winter with my 98 EFI ended up getting the hot-low / cold-high idles reset 2 times at the dealer before we got it right. All I can tell you is even in 90* weather my bike high idles, I let it idle high for a few minutes to heat up the motor/rings/pistons. Then I take my left hand and feel the upper jug fins if they are warm/hot then the motor is heated up. Not going to hurt anything, then I burp the throttle and it idles down. Hope this helped if you need anything else pm or email me.

It looks like we have the same bike,I also have the Anniversary Model. My bike started to idle high after riding for a while,It then threw a code 56 which is crank/cam sensor,I replaced the crank sensor and it did run better and stop the high idle.Have you had any other problems with your bike,My shifter lever that connects to the splinned shaft on the trans came loose.I also had toreplace the front motor mount.

We do have the same bike. Mine is # 314. I've only had it 2 weeks, no problems, only 13,000 miles. Just wondering if taking 15 minutes in warm weather to drop down to the low idle is normal? Can I adjust that?
