Default Radio switching modes by itself

This happens on and off, today it was maddening. Cruising along playing xm, suddenly the radio switches to am. Maybe it switches quickly to fm, maybe not. Heppens when playing a cd too, just jumps over to the weather band. Like I'm pressing the right thumb button (believe me, I'm not) This must have happened ten times in an hour ride. Two or three times during one song. Did it a few weeks ago and then quit and all was well. Now it's at it again. Any idears? (aside from gremlins please!)

Does it happen while traveling over rough roads (thinking of a mode switch that may be on the edge) - or, perhaps a recalibration from the dealer. I haven't heard of your problem which makes me think it's a bad switch or one that's close to being bad (intermittant).

Not on rough roads, just random. I think it must be a bad switch too. Guess I'll have to make the 130 mile trip to the dealer while it's still under warrenty.

Dealer says it might be a pinched wire inside the fairing, I'll open it and check...

Funny you should mention this; yesterday for the 1st time my 07 UC kept switching from FM to weather band on one of our better interstate roads. BIG pain in the ****. Was going to read the manual tonight and see if there was an option set to switch to the weather band for alerts.

had the same problem took it in and they changed the switch on the bars and checked the wires under the cover on the bar for a pinched wire and off i went till it got hot again and boom back to the weather band it goes, mine always go to the weather band no matter what im on. now ive installed the update for the radio (number 8.19.0) orsomething like that and havent had any problems seens but you never know when or were it might happen. it did seem that mine did it when it got realy hot outside, not as bad in the winter time. keep me updated on this one if you find the fix because im waiting till cold hits again before they get my bike for any length of time.

Mine would do that also, switch bands all by itself. I made sure I had the weather alert turned off, and that seemed to fix it. However that is not a fix in itself, because you should be able to have the weather alert "on" in case you need it.

It would be worthwhile to try a good contact cleaner on the switch. It will get rid of any moisture that might be in there

Fisrt thing I always try!
