Default backrest security

I have been searching...... I am looking for a good way to deter theft of my detachable backrest. I have seen the locks that are available. I was just wondering if any of the brilliant minds on the forum may have come up with something better.

Yes, if I'm staying out over night, I pop it out and bring it up to my hotel room.

Takes less than a second to pop it out.

No need to over think it.

What's wrong with the HD lock? They come in a 2 pack. Put one on my TP and other on backrest. Not going to walk away with either w/o tearing something up. Plus it looks a lot better than a chain and lock. Clean look. other than the HD lock, no idea.

what about when it is parked for 4 hours while you are off doing whatever, and can't carry or don't want to carry it around.

I never worry about it, and never a problem. And I live in the Detroit area. If someone wants it that bad, they can have it. In fact if they have to wrestle with it, I'd just as soon have them take it vs f*ing up my bike in a failed attempt to remove it.

Thieves can take a bunch of stuff pretty easily. My mirrors for example. Quick crescent wrench and they're gone.

I just try not to sweat the small stuff.
