Sounds like I am lucky that I finally found a combination of elements that eliminates buffeting almost completely for me: seating position (Corbin Touring Seat and Road Glide Special handle bars), full size touring windshield (Clearview with vent or Klockwerks both work equally well for me, not a big difference) and of course the fangs. Ride as is is perfect for me (I also added Wilbors Nivomat shocks)…..guess I have to finally accept the looks of the fangs. Sometimes I just wonder why so many fellow riders get away without the fangs…at least here in Germany.

Thanks everybody for your input!

My previous ride (for almost 14 years) was a 09 RKC with a 21 inch front wheel, where I had no buffeting issues at all (also riding with Klockwerks). Is there so much difference in aerodynamics to explain that huge difference?

i was thinking to try hard lowers (like the look, would not mind the rain protection) … any idea how this would impact buffeting (and replace my fangs)? I know that there are many lower threads in here but from my experience with the RKC every model has its own aerodynamics and lowers on eg a Street Glide or an older model RK might have different impact on buffeting. Any RKS experience (inkl pictures). I am 6 ft tall, 32 inseam and seat is a Corbin Touring (ie a bit back vs Stock).
thanks in advance!
I like the looks of the Corbin. Is it one that takes 1000s of miles to break in?

I found it comfortable as of day 1. sure it „moulds“ to your behind and becomes even better over time, but did not need 1000miles…

I would say that other riders don't necessarily "get away" with not having the fangs, it's more likely they just put up with the wind buffeting. I also suspect that many riders don't know about the fangs until they really get serious about trying to find a solution to the wind buffeting, I know in my case I didn't realize they (fangs) were out there until I started researching a fix to the problem. I ran fangs on my Street Glide Special for 7 years that I had it and when I traded it in for my current 2021 Road King Special I made sure the fangs came off so I could put them on my RKS, which I still haven't done yet because I don't long distance ride much right now. When I start doing long rides again then I'll slap them back on because they do work well.
