have a problem with the H-D Headsets

We have a lot of noise (static???) in the head sets (both and in both recepticles).... no obvious noise on exterior speakers... IDEAS???

Sounds like a wire is touching somewhere it shouldn't be....dealer repair.

 

Sounds like a bad ground, but like was stated above, let the warranty take care of it so they don't accuse you of screwing up the electrical system.
Did you try cussing really loud and waving your arms at it. That's always my first thing I try...[sm=smiley8.gif]

 

Did you get your VOX setting adjusted correctly to turn off the mic when your not talking?

 

The speaker/headset switch on mine gets dirty form time to time. I operate it several times to clean the contacts and that seems to clear up the noise. Hope you find it.

 

One other thang...do yerself a favor, an' either quick-tie the helmet headset cord to the mount on the helmet, or replace 'em with J&M or another brand. As designed, the cord WILL yank outta the headset, an' bounce on the fuel tank, leavin' ya nice chips which the MoCo will NOT cover under warranty, even though their design sux.

 

J&Ms are the way to go! you can get individual replacement parts for them if you somehow destroy them (again, don't ask!). They sound great and haven't had a bit of problem with them, other than brain farts by the operator.

 

The J&M headsets have a longer TWO-PIECE cord design instead of the shorter single cord on the Harley brand ,,,,, and the J&M speakers produce significantly better sound ,,,,,

and they can switch from one brand of audio system to another by just interchanging the lower section cord ,,,,,
