Default 2006 Electra Glide help

Just bought it. Only 8100 miles. Stock pipes, looks and runs like new. My problem is I'm only getting about 32mpg. Gas light came on around 135 miles. This isn't normal is it?

There is no 'normal ' gas milege, in my opinion, but this could easily be the 'usual' mileage for this unit. Also, keep in mind that this bike has been parked most of its life. Things might loosen up with some miles.

Do you have any service history on the bike? Possible if not with the low mileage and age, it may be time for service. Complete fluids change, air filter service, plugs and plug wires could help that fuel mileage. It's about the best you could do all stock.
Beautiful bike btw!

Stock pipes, but looks like stage 1 A/C, unless I just can't see the backplate. If there was no tuner, but just a dealer download, adding a tuner to change the fuel and air could assist you in your endeavors of better mileage. It would also enable you to continue with mods such as changing out the stock header for duals or 2-1 pipe to rid of the heat of the crossover, cams and much more....

A lot depends on the rider too. Were those 150 miles highway, backroads, city, bumper to bumper, hammer down?

I get anywhere from 35 (2-up lugging around) and 48mpg (just me, cruising around 55-60). I have a 1996 Road King btw, full Stage-1 jetted.

Also, when I first got mine, it took about 500 miles before I figured out the performance/efficiency. I would say spend some more time riding and see where you end up after a few fillups.

Check over several tanksful, which will give a better idea of consumption. You will get more used to riding it and a check of only one tank is not a good guide.

Borderman, I just came off of a 2006 Street Glide. I had an SE aircleaner, Rinehart 2 into 1 pipes, and as far as I know, all else was stock. I got anywhere from 30 to 42 MPG from it. 'Usually' going down the road it was in the higher range. In the mountains and around town, in the lower range.

I wouldn't get too hung up on mileage, per se. It's when it changes dramatically is when I really pay attention. For instance, on my commuter, a Suzuki VL1500 Intruder, I was getting 42 MPG, been it started dipping lower and lower, and when it got to about 16-18 MPG, I checked it out and found out that the rubber intake manifolds had gotten hard and weren't sealing around the carbs...I let it go way too long, but time is limited. So, that scooter is down for the moment while I get my new Street Glide sorted out. But that's a good example of how mileage can indicate problems.

Default Thanks

thanks guys you're awesome. I love this forum. It does have stage 1 air done to it with a fuel pak. I'll drive some more for sure to see how it does. 10k maintenance is just around the corner and I'll have them check everything out. My riding so far has been highway 65-70mph

That mileage could well be normal; mileage on some of the earlier TC's could vary quite a bit. I have a 2000, 2003, and a 2011, all of which are pretty close to stock. The 2011 gets the best mileage and the 2000 the worst. And the difference between city and highway driving can be enormous.
In short, I wouldn't worry about it.

You're pushing a lot of air at that speed. That could get you to 32. Run a few more tanks of gas to get a bigger sampling. I'm always at 40mpg with a mix of riding. If you bike is performing well, your style may just get you 32
