ditto on the southco products, that's who the pricey sellers use anyway. southco also has keyed locking pushbuttons. i like the way the cop bags open and i have had more than one civilian bike rider ask where to get some. much easier to open than the civilian version. i have 63K on my 01 RK. only failure has been vehicle speed sensor. i was forutnate to get my sinister blue/diamond ice FLHPI with only 9 miles on it for $15,750. Birmingham Police overordered and didn't take it. Ihave been told Igot the only "legal" sale of a brand new cop bike to a civilian.

I own one now. I bought mine with 1200 miles on it. I have had alot of stuff done to it, butI am still under price if I had bought a new EG Standard then did the same modifications to it. I would do it again in a heart beat. In addition, the dealership that I purchased mine from converted it for me to a civilian bike, so that I did not haveto deal with it.

Best of luck with your decision.

Wow, thanks for all the input, guys. This dealer's site say they start at 14,999, but I'm sure there is haggling room there. I did forget one question, is there anything to fill the space where the POLICE badging was? I know these bikes ride awesome, I rode a friend's cop RK and it floated over bumps!

wow if you can get em with the low milage yuns are seeing then id buy one....it also depends on what department... some Really use there scoots...frames get beat up from curbs/steps.... engines run hotter most of there time than civilian riders.... they get a woopin in one day of training than most would be willing to put the bike through....ever...

Sounds like a pretty good deal. All the dealersin OKC have them in bothblack andwhite priced around $17000 for a 2006. Might as well get a new one for that price, which I'm wondering if that is the intent in the first place.

I have a 2005 FLHPI and totally enjoy it. I wouldn't ditch the hockey pucks on the bags, very easy to open when stopped at a light even with gloves on. I dessed mine up with chrome from J&P.

you are 100% correct.... and the reason is that the m/c's are repaired through the city/department. whatever damage occurs gets fixed.

youll see some clutches burnt, some rear brakes shot and some engine guards with rash---- and ALOT of floor boards worn to a razor sharp edge..... but when a motorcycle is issued to an officer- theyre taken care of as if they bought them.

alot of pride goes into riding a police wheel.

having said that- i cant say that i 'would' or 'wouldnt' buy a used police wheel. even with low mileage- it could be beat to hell.... a used police wheel is the same as a used civilian wheel- if it was taken care of properly- itll take care of you.
