Im considering adding them on my RG, I wanted to ask you folks how much of the wind that comes up from around the tanks is reduced. specifically those with long beards, do lowers reduce Beard lift?
Can't answer the beard lift question but I've had lowers on last two SG's and now my 17 RGS and they are the single best thing you can do to create a calm pocket of air. You can even ride with a shorter windshield. That said, I always get quick detach kits so I can remove when I feel like stripping the back down.

Quick Detach Kit?
What does that entail? The lowers on my 2010 Limited are held on by 3 screws... Don't know how much easier they could be to remove... LoL
As for the lowers... I love the airflow... I have them on, however, ride with them all the way open all the time to let as much air threw as possible... I am sure as the weather starts to cool and the fall kicks in I will be closing them and seeing how different they are... But, this is my first bike with lowers, and I haven't closed them yet...
Good luck... Oh... and I don't have a beard to lift... Work Regulations prevent me from growing one...
The lowers reduce the tank wind maybe 50%. I wish it were more. That being said, they really reduce fatigue a lot after a long days ride. I always felt beat up after riding without them. I added them to my SG (only takes 15 minutes w/o a quick detach kit) and I liked them so much I eventually left them on all the time.
One other thing folks don't mention with lowers is they do add drag, so mileage may go down a couple mpg. Not a big deal, but the bike does feel the headwind a bit more.
I like lowers enough that I kept them when I sold the SG for future bikes. I also used them on my 2011 Road King.
Added them to my Streetglide as I was painting it anyways and bought some aftermarket replicas which turned out to be perfect . I don't have along beard but I do know when i rode my SG without lowers and tried to use my highway pegs i got unblieveable amounts of wind following up my legs and beating me to the point I didn't use the Highway pegs anymore. Once i had the lowers no more wind with highway peg use or without so much nicer on those long hauls. I am leaving mine on for now.
