It was only about 3 weeks ago that I had the check engine and overtemp idiot lights come on.
I since have had the thermostat repaired only to have the lights come on again today.
There seems to be no loss of coolant so I'm thinking maybe its a faulty temp sender unit?
To be safe I'll get her trailered back to the dealership for investigation and rectification of the fault. What a bummer... Just when I thought I had the problem licked....
Ask the service writer if they are purging all of the air after filling the coolant tank. I am not familiar with twin cooled systems but I believe the total coolant volume is pretty small.
From past experience on automobile coolant flushes and refills, if you get air trapped in some, and it is easy to do on some systems, you will get an air pocket that gets super hot steam trapped. Depending on where your temp sensor is it will read the steam temp and not true coolant temp.
Regardless, purging the air needs to be done. I am sure HD has a procedure for it.

Did you replace the water pump when you did the thermostat? Just had the pump go on mine, replaced the thermostat at the same time - sounds like the pumps are a fairly known issue from what I've read and several folks did both just to be sure (pump was $400 for parts, thermostat was $75).

The pump was not replaced with the thermostat - possibly that is what has gone south this time.. Am bringing her in to check on next Tuesday.
