Default Apes???

I ride a 2011 Street Glide. 5'10". I have looked at the Paul Yaffe apes. I like the looks of them. Kinda thinking I want them somewhere just above the fairing. Any other handlebars out there similar, better, more affordable, etc. Looking at general info about it. Wanting to do the job myself. I understand the wire chasing is a head ache. If anyone knows of another forum post with info about the wiring, let me know. Thanks in advanced.

I think right at the top edge of the fairing is 12", wish i went 14" but didn't due to cold hands. At 12" i didn't need to use wiring extensions but think the 1.5" Vindikta bars helped that. If i ever replace the bars then will definitely go with 14".

Yaffe 10” Monkey Bars are just below the top of the fairing, 12” just above. Nice bars. There are videos on You Tube and you can use google to find other threads with info on installation.

The bar change is easy.. Once you get it apart u will see the wires and it'l all make sense.. Do you plan on changing the bushings, if not you might want to.. You definitely want the stiffer poly bushing for higher bars

Consider KST Mayhem Bagger Bars about $225 IMHO tough to beat for price and quality...I went with 10" -Stock wiring and lines
Check YouTube for a great install video... Ride It Wrench It... if my memory works...

Thinking about powder coating mine over the off season...

I have a 2012 Sg with 12" Yaffe monkey bars. You will need longer clutch and brake cables. I had to extended the wiring on the right side only, and don't forget to remove the green connector from the TBW. With 12's you can keep the stock mirrors, and they will be slightly higher than the fairing. I'm also 5'10" 12's are very comfortable.

I love these threads if for no other reason than to throw up pics of the scoot, and bump my post count. As mentioned above, have a look at the KST's....nice bars for much less.I'm 5'10 as well, and 12" was perfect for me.I don't know about a 2012 model, but with my '16 I did not need "cable" extensions, but I did do the wire ext.,for ease of install.

I've got more pics, but my internet is acting up on me right now.
And yes, there are many threads and pics of the baggers with apes here.

The Yaffe’s tend to run a little bigger than most. My cousin has them in 12’s and they are at least an inch or two higher than my 12” Twin Peaks.

Here is a link to a detailed thread on the install I did recently with 10 inch Yaffe Monkey Bars:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-r...o-limited.html

The wife really liked them and I think they look nice!

I am 6' 1" and would have been just a little more comfortable with 12 inch but I like to keep my hands just behind the fairing.
