Default Cams

Morning all! I've been knocking around the idea of putting cams in my 2011 Electra glide police model. I've already done air cleaner, true dual exhaust, and fp3. My question is : how difficult is it to change cams? I have the service manual, but I'd like to hear from people who have done the job. Thanks in advance!

Pretty simple when following the manual. Will need to buy, borrow, rent the tool or use a different method to change inner bearings. Decide whether going through the top or cutting pushrods.

Everything was simple for me except the Pushrods. Follow directions and use manual. I still gotta get my tubes to stop leaking.

I just finished putting TW-222 in my 09 Street Glide. I ordered everything from Fuel Moto and watched their video along with other videos on YouTube. It was my first time to ever do a job like this. The guys here help me out a bunch just by reading old post. When I first started mine, an hour ago I took the fuel pump fuse out along with the spark plugs and turned the motor over with the starter for 7 seconds then let the starter rest for 3 minutes and then another 7 seconds till the oil light went out and the oil pressure gauge starts to read pressure. Put plugs back in along where the the fuel pump fuse and start it up. With the new lifters I installed, it took 3 minutes for them to pressure up and the valve train noise to quite up. Take your time, replace exhaust gaskets, grab a pipe expander tool (medium) at Harbor Freight for the cross over pipe and watch a YouTube video on how to build a tool to install your head gaskets. I rented the inner cam puller tool from this forum, these guys are great. Watch videos over and over on YouTube and read many forums on here... Have fun!

This past spring I installed S&S 551 Easy starts in my 96. Using the service manual and the fuel moto videos it was a piece of cake. Rear rocker box bolts are a little tricky to torque. I went in through the top and installed the updated breathers and drilled them out so I didnt cut my push rods. The push rod covers were the hardest part of the install because I didn't have the tool. I used a scew driver inside a piece of tubing to protect the fins. Honestly it was not a bad job at all. And we'll worth it.

If you have done this work yourself then you can do cams with no problem. As someone said above, just follow the Service Manual and the Youtube videos are good. Or do a search here on "Cam Change" in the title only
Here is an old one but one I used for some tips:

Cam Change
