I installed the biketronics interface unit and used Mike's mounting kit for the headunit. His instructions are very clear; no special tools are required.

If I hadn't already purchased the Sony GT510, speakers, HD speaker adapters, and fairing mounted antenna by the time I purchased the interface unit and mounting kit, I would have purchased the $499 package Mike offers that includes all of that stuff to begin with.

Before you begin installing everything on the bike, there are seven wires to splice from the interface unit to the Sony plug wires (2+ speaker, 2- speaker, ground, ignition and battery) that are color-coded--simple. Then remove the outer fairing; install speaker adapters; install speakers; remove plastic shell from hole in inner fairing where radio mounts; mount stereo headunit using mounting kit;connect the spliced wires to the appropriate speakers, ground, battery, and ignition sources; plug OEM Base Audio Connector into interface unit; connect antenna to headunit; and, plug Sonyplug into rear of headunit and you are good to go. Takes no more than two hours.

As jb said, do a search and you will find numerous threads on biketronics; some with pics.

I used the Biketronics Retro Radio kit on my 06 FLHT/I and everything was plug and play, no wire splicing needed in my case. The connectors were already there for the radio and speakers and the handlebar controls work just like with a factory radio.
