Default Hypothetical Question

I'm curious as to the opinions here.

Let's suppose that one of the better known custom builders came out and said,

"We're gonna build a line of new bikes. Comparable performance to the current HD's. V-Twins of course. They will look great. Choice of Hardtail, Softtail, Bobber. Not as blinged out as some of the customs out there. Basic paint, ready to customize. Here's the kicker. We'll sell them in the 15-20K price range...of course, if you want the chrome breaks and steel lines and the fat back tires...you can get them for a little extra.

Who would seriously consider on e of these?

I would take a look, especially if they were fuel injected and had a bigger motor like say 124ci

I would look but doubt I would buy. The dealer network HD has would be my biggest reason. Before heading out on a long trip I look up where the dealers are in case I need service on the road.

If it were built on a Harley frame I might consider it. Had better be one helluva bike before I pass on a Harley though.

No. For the same reasons "Fatboyemt" mentioned. I would definitely watch it to see if it would be able to prove itself.

fatboyemt, That is one odd explanation for owning a harley. That would be like saying I,m going to buy a Chevrolet car because when it breaks down on my next trip I,ll be close to a dealership. DAAAA When I buy a bike, car truck or whatever the last thing I,m concerned about is a dealer because if it is a piece of crap the whole world will know about it and somebody else will own it and I,ll not buy another one. Told that to the salesman who sold my wife a new Bug, If its a piece if sh.., We will not buy another one and everybody will know about it. I think some people are looking at this dealership/warranty problems all wrong. Starting to look like the AMF days. I have an 06 ultra that has been in the shop 9 times, this makes 10, last call, not fixed this time ,someone else will own it.

I would love a custom, as a second bike. Will always have a HD touring bike, for time with the wife on a trip.
