It's winter time in the great white North. That means it's time to workon the bike. I have 2012 ultra limited and I am going to replace my handlebars. I'm 6'1", what size bars are you running and did you need to replace any cables or brake lines? I think I'd like to 12 or 14 inch. Any thoughts?

I'm 5'11" and I have a 2011 Ultra and previously had a 07 that I had 10 inch Wild One Chubbys 0575s, but didn't feel they came back to me quite enough. When I got the 2011 this past summer I went with the 12 inch Wild Ones Chubbys 0577. Which were perfect. I know the 14s would have me reaching up, with is suggested not to do. I am on a Mustang Super Touring seat. Which from the Mustang website says "sits the driver 1.75" further back than the stock seat." The 14s might work for you with your extra height and reach, but I think you'd also be happy with the 12s. The 14s will be way above the fairing. Even the 12s are slightly above. Here's a couple pics. The combination bar/seat I have are great ergos for me. You will need new cables, brake/clutch and throttle cables. Some use an extension for the throttle.

Reason: to add seat info and cables and brake lines.

Is the clutch cable coming through a rubber grommet in the inner fairing next to the gauges? If so, is that how H-D ran the clutch cable on those bikes?
Edit- Didn't mean to go off topic, but that caught my eye and I was curious.

Yes, I bought it used, but I believe that is standard/stock. I was there for the install but used a local Indie who has done dozens maybe of these, and it would be the cleanest installation that way. I know sometimes people save a few inches going outside the fairing, but with 12 inch, (the Chubbys are actually 12.5 by their specs) your going to need a new cable regardless of the routing I would guess.

I've got 13" Arlen Ness bars. Super easy to wire, I ran all new cables on my '07 cause they needed to be replaced. Not sure what you can get away with on your '12. I'm also 6'1", I like the height of these bars a lot.
Thanks for the photos guys. After seeing those I think I'll go with the 12s. I don't want them to much over the fairing. Especially with the mirrorson the bars. Thanks forthe help.

You can mount the mirrors upside down so they are below the bars, but I like then like I have them. I get a great view of the road and no movement required to scan the mirrors.. It's a perfect height and gives a great rearview.

Just a note about mirrors, with my bars I can see my fairing mirrors perfectly, incase you were wondering. I'm not a fan of mirrors on mini apes, but everyone has different taste on that.
I really like the look of your bike. You did a great job on the build. I was actually curious if you could see your mirrors. I might get fairing mounted mirrors since the fairing is coming off for the bars anyway. Thanks for the added info.
