I have a fork vice to hold the fork tube firmly, but couldn't figure out how to get that cap on first time, every time. There were a couple tools available online, but they were $$$$$$!

I found a clamp, with a split foot, that would work with my fork vice. It cost me about $60 on Amazon I believe......

I can now get the cap on first time, every time, and no more sore hands......

FWIW....

Love The Fork Clamp, do you have a link for the clamp? I have considered getting on the Bridgeport Mill and boring a 50-mm hole in a piece of aluminum and then putting a split on one side of the bored hole, to function as a clamp.

It's a "Bessey, double headed bar clamp"......

I think mine is a 36", but they make them them in different lengths... I didn't need the full 36" one, but when I bought it, I was unsure exactly how I was going to use it.

If you google it, it will come up on several web sites. I believe I got mine form Amazon...

so I have a very high mile bike, and the lowers are chewed up bad (they say everyone in FL has bad lowers if not chrome or PC)

will ***** shiny take in damaged lowers?

anyone got a favorite video for doing the forks on a Street Glide?
my bike is lowered, and i want to raise it back up.

so it sounds like may was well PC the forks, do a suspension upgrade, and what maintenance do I need to do at 47k miles on a Street Glide?

what else do i need to do?

I found it to be very easy and no special tools required to put the fork cap upright in the wrench on the bench and screw the fork assembly onto cap by hand to get it started.
