... one thing I carry is a tool roll. Opens up and holds a multitude of different tool - rolls up with a handle and straps together when not in use. I keep it in my Samurai and grab it for the bike on a trip. Doesn't take up much room.
I know this probably isn't what you were looking for with the op ( specific tools ) but packs smaller than a bag full of tools and lays them out easier than rummaging through one.

+1 on the compressor.

And don't forget the motorcycle appropriate jumper cables. These new bikes are hard to start unless pointing downhill....

Looks like you have a M8 limited from that picture. If you break down on the side of the road, not a whole lot of repairs you can do on the roadside. Usually its something shaking loose or coming apart. I carry spare fuses, zip ties, electrical tape and some basic tools to tighten things. If its more than that, I get it towed to a nearby shop. E-Glide Goodies has some tool bags that will fit in the areas at the bottom of your saddle bags. Kinda fills some empty space.
There have been many threads asking the same questions. I suggest you review these and get your ideas. What do you tinker with most? Look around your bike a few times and think about what you might could do on the road....
good luck

If I can't patch it together with baling wire and a Leatherman enough to get it home then it is probably above my skill set anyway.

It's not what I take that's important, it's what I leave at home - a good buddy with a trailer...

A couple I know carry a "Portable Bidet" with them. He says His wife won't leave home without it!

My favorite "tool bag" is a shop rag, wrapped around my tools, held tightly with about 6 feet of insulated solid copper wire.

In that "kit" tends to be:
4-1 screwdriver
needle nose vice grips
good crescent wrench
allen wrenchs
half roll of electrical tape
2 hose clamps
6 largish zip ties

This kit is based on my experience with things usually breaking or falling off, and me needing to get them together again, and or needing to hold them in place or on the bike for a while. Rarely do I need to rebuild a carburetor on the side of the road.
