Winter Maintenance
I haven't posted in forever. Thought I would post on my progress for the winter projects. I am finally at 35k on the clock and getting to the cam chain tensioners. I figured while I am moving everything out of the way to get into the cam case, I might as well wrap the heads, cause, why not. I also picked up some swingarm bushings to try and correct the wobble short of spending the money on a true track. Add to that some mid-frame deflectors and a lower fork deflector and I have a good week or so of nights in the garage. Can't wait for the season to get here!
All that being said, I am seeing some pros and some cons to wrapping my exhaust vice leaving the heat shields on. My heat shields are pitted and the clamps are rusted to $H|7. I am going to seal it with some spray when I am done but I am concerned with cracking my headers or just generating more heat in general.

If you shop around you can probably pick up a set of pipes and heat shields for decent money. Anything up to '08 will bolt on, although some '07 and the '08 pipes will have O2 ports to blank off. With a decent set of hand-me-downs your bike could look smart once more! The clamps are easy enough to come by, just buy similar sized stainless ones. A True-Track kit is a great improvement - jus' sayin'!
