My new LED head lights are great , nice and bright. I think makes a big difference in drivers seeing me. Down side is in the fog can't see so good, too bright. What do you suggest, ride to work most days sometimes foggy.
Your problem in fog suggests you have used an unsuitable LED bulb. Drivers can see you because your new light is dazzling them! Unfortunately it seems that many manufacturers of them make little effort to ensure their LED bulbs will work properly in a traditional reflector. You are suffering from 'flare', in which light is reflecting upwards into your line of vision, probably because the LEDs in your new 'bulb' do not coincide with the focal point of the reflector. I won't use them and bought a trio of Trucklites for my Glide. They ain't cheap, but the conform to the correct regulations and have a great beam pattern.
One of the things I like most about my Truck Lite P7 on my 'King, like the headlights on my newer vehicles, is the clean line of the lights when on dim. Bright fills in above the line, but bright adds to glare in fog. Graham my have hit the nail on the head for you - that bulb might be unsuitable for your needs.
That clean line just wows me every time I drive one of my newer vehicles, it is more defined than the TLP7, but it is still there. If you have very much light going up on dim, there's your glare.

You chaps got the Chevrolet Chevette, while we got much the same car as a Vauxhall (GM in the UK) Chevette, with similar recessed sealed beam headlights. That recess was a real pain as it caused the same problem - reflecting light upwards to illuminate fog or light rain. I painted mine matt black which helped a lot. The cause was different, but the effect much the same as the OP is suffering.

You might try angling them down more. Upwards reflection can be adjusted out on most lights.
So where are you guys getting that the OP installed a LED "bulb"? Am I missing something, he did say LED headlight correct??
As far as the TruckLites go, I have all 3 in mine and they're all adjusted correctly and I have the same issue in heavy fog. Almost a complete white out at times. The heavier the fog the worse it is.
