Default Voltage Question

I have a 2005 cvo elevtraglide. Runs and rides great. Just a general question. When idling my voltage gauge sits at 14 or just under. While riding or accelerating it will jump to around 15 or just over. When off gas it returns to 14 or just under. Just wanted to make sure I did not have a regulator problem and this voltage was acceptable. Just don’t want to cook my battery. I did a search and see tons of posts of voltage dropping but nothing for my question. Thanks

Probably ought to check it with a volt/ohm meter. But sounds OK. Depending on the battery condition, it should be just under 15. However, your meter may not be accurate. Make sure connections are tight and clean on battery. It is a tad high. After an hour run, it should drop to 13.5 or so at 2000 rpm. Your battery could be low on amps. What does it show while cold-cranking? Should not dip below 9.5

Good charged battery after a on/off switch of headlights should be 12.7 or so. It takes a minimum of 13.5 to charge.

Are you using dash or a good meter? With a good meter 15 is to high. Should be around 14.4 reved up.

A battery that has been off the charger or not run for a little bit should be 12.8. Say a hour later, but but really not that long.

The 1/10s are important, manuals have table that will say 12.8 100% 12.6 75% 12.0 25%.

Default Voltage

Finally had a chance to check with my meter. Reads steady 14.3 and same while accelerating. I guess my volt Gaige is off just a hair.

My dash voltmeter reads the same way. Thanks for the reminder.

I should check with my meter as well but I think no problem.
