Hi everyone. I just recently purchased a 19 Street Glide Special. This is my first Harley and only my 2nd bike. Living in Ontario, I am about ready to put the bike to sleep for the winter, so I was looking into doing a few things over the winter.
I'd like to install LED turn signals. I know from reading lots of threads already that Custom Dynamics are the go to for this, but damn are they ever expensive. Especially up here in Canada! So, I just started poking around Amazon and there are a ton of options there as well. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with LEDs from Amazon (or somewhere else), that aren't as spendy as CD? If so, do you have a brand you'd recommend?
The tri-bar brake light on Canadian bikes is DOA from the factory. I think I just need a wiring harness and obviously the light and I can light this part of the bike up. Is that correct? Any Canadian riders that have done this and can recommend lights, etc.?
Also, I am going to replace the factory antenna. Looking at the 4" stubby, but I think it may be a little too short. Any recommendations for something a little longer than the stubby? It's really only for looks. I'll probably just listen to music from my phone...
And lastly, I think I need a slightly taller windscreen. The factory 4" sends the wind straight into my helmet. Klockwerks seems popular....is that the consensus. For reference, I am 5,11" and think I really only need the windscreen a couple inches taller.
Welcome and good luck with your new bike. Everything on a Harley is expensive, so get use to it. A good place to look for parts is Ebay. Remember you usually get what you pay for.
I also thought of a taller windshield for my street glide. most likely a factory one. Most dealers have demo windshields for you to tryout (they are easy to change)
As far as the antenna Harley makes a hidden antenna that mounts up front under the outer fairing. It will give the bike a cleaner look. I plan on doing that to mine as well.
I have the CD Tribar light and it is a plug and play unit. Install was about 20 minutes. I got it from Dream Cycles. The windshield in my sig picture is a 6.5" Memphis Shades spoiler which I got from Fortnine. I think it's just about doubled in price since I got it.
As far as the antenna: you can hide it under the seat & through the frame. Just look around YouTube for videos on how to do it.
Its what I did. I believe its called redneck antenna relocation.
you haven't checked with lrs lately have you? since they were bought, they've raised the prices on their shields, and I have yet to see a sale that was anywhere close to what they used to have. for example, right now their website is not even showing any black Friday deals.
Look at JDM replacement led bulbs. Pretty damn good. I have one in my tail light. Its almost as bright as my cd turn signals. 15 bucks maybe.
Switchback bulbs for front turn signals. White running lights that turn amber to signal a turn. I use clear lenses on the front. Very bright. 10 or 15 bucks each. I may have bought a pair for 30 or 35, cant remember now. They get good reviews so I thought, wth, ill give them a try. Still work great after a year. They have a store on eBay.
Keep an eye on the classifieds here, sooner or later youll find what you need, also use the wanted to buy .

My bad no I haven't, I guess it's been a while since I got mine. Did not know they sold out, too bad.
yeah, i was disappointed as well. especially since i had bought 2 bikes and needed to replace the stock windshields on them both. one of their 50% sales would have been really handy at that time.
