Notification
Why was i not notified of the recall on the roadking cam tensioners going bad? My 01 has about 43k on it and still runs great but i just noticed a knock in the engine so im afraid to ride it right now. When i had it checked i was told that it was the cam tensioner and there was a recall on them which i didn't get. Im disabled and don't have much money at all so im kind of stuck. Not sure exactly what to order or the best place to get it. If i can manage to get the parts im gonna attempt to fix it myself. Everyone wants a fortune to work on it and i can't afford it so im looking for suggestions or something cheap to ride until i can get it fixed. I'm 62 and haven't been without a bike of some kind in 50 of those 62 years so any help would be greatly appreciated. Text four 23. Tw0 51 seven 142.. Thanks Charlie..
This is the first I've heard of the cam chain tensioner thing.
Charlie, you may want to remove the address in your location and edit out your phone number.

Sorry Dude- but there was never a recall for the cam chain tensioners- thats why you never got one.
they do wear out faster than what people expected- but they did work- so no recall.
not too difficult a job if you can handle removing the exhaust (maybe) and the cam cover. Lots and lots of threads covering this. Good luck!

The cam chain tensioners weren't in a recall ,but the 2000 and 2001 twin cams did have a recall on the cam bearings. The cam bearings prior to the recall were interchangeable, the recall changed the rear bearing to a roller type bearing and the front stays as a ball bearing bearing
I think Charlie is looking for a handout from a member on this board more so than questioning the tensioner recall. He is listed as a new member and has been riding for 50 years. That is why he has his phone number listed and so is his location.
